Beat the Snooze

Before I open my eyes in the morning, my mind is already racing with reasons I should hit snooze. Do I really need to wake up right now? The goal I wrote down last night doesn’t seem as urgent anymore.

A sluggish start can mean goodbye to any thought of a morning routine. If you’re having trouble with snooze, here’s a simple tip to try.

As soon as you wake up, take a deep breath and observe the thoughts pop into your mind. It might be 20 more minutes of sleep is totally worth it… “I’m too tired to do anything productive this morning” or “I’ll grab a quick bite on the way to work instead of making breakfast.”

Instead of following these thoughts, let them pass by without giving them much attention. As soon as the third reason to go back to sleep passes by, open your eyes.

Boom! Recognizing your internal dialogue as noise makes it a lot easier to get a jump on reading, meditation, or breaking a sweat!
